Honeycomb

Honeycomb — honey exactly as the bees made it, sealed in the wax.

Comb honey can’t be extracted, strained or blended — it’s simply the frame the bees built and capped, cut to size. We set aside only our best-presenting frames for comb, so what you get is as direct as honey comes: chew the wax, or spread it comb and all on warm toast.

We freeze each frame whole before cutting, then cut clean, even pieces that sit neatly in the container with no dripping — so it travels and presents beautifully. Available as cut comb or as a full frame.

Held to the highest standard, from hive to comb:

• Sites free from pesticides and insecticides, landfill, and agricultural crops within 5km
• No copper naphthenate wood preservative, no plastic frames, no paraffin
• Our production hives are never fed sugar or fondant — the bees live on their own honey, and we leave a full box of stores on every hive over winter
• Hives stationary — never trucked, never used for commercial pollination
• Fully insulated Finnish hives (high-density EPS, roughly R7–R8 — around 6–12× the thermal protection of a standard 22mm timber hive)
• Australian wax foundation, no synthetic chemicals in the hive
• No synthetic miticides — only organic-approved methods if treatment is ever needed
• Packed in recyclable plastic — the practical, food-safe choice for comb

Every frame we keep was rescued, and each one carries its own story.

Judged by honey sommelier Jessica Locarnini at The Beekeepers Club, the Beelines newsletter reported: “Laszlo Kun entered the only beeswax product and his frame of honey was perfect.”

Our honey is used at Stokehouse St Kilda by Executive Chef Jason Staudt.
