Privacy policy

BeesFriend (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy and handles your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect when you visit our website or place an order, and how we use it. We’re a small family-run business, and we only collect what we need to take your order, deliver it, and stay in touch if you’ve asked us to.

What we collect

When you place an order, we collect your name, delivery address, email address and phone number so we can process and send your order. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. When you browse the site, our hosting may collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, to keep the site running and secure.

We use Google Search Console to understand how our site performs in Google search. This provides us with aggregate, non-identifying information — such as the search terms people use to find us and how often our pages appear — and does not track or identify you individually as you browse our site.

We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website — for example which pages are viewed, how people move through the site, and general information such as device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes this data on our behalf; some of it is linked to an identifier for your browser or device. You can read how Google handles this data in Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can opt out across all sites using Google’s browser opt-out add-on.

Payments

We process payments through Stripe and PayPal. When you pay, your card or account details are entered directly with these providers — we never see or store your full card details. Stripe and PayPal handle that information under their own privacy policies and security standards.

Email & newsletter

Our newsletter is managed through MailPoet. If you subscribe, we use your email address to send you updates about fresh honey, products and our rescue work. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We don’t sell, rent or share your email address with anyone.

How we use your information

We use your information only to process and deliver your orders, respond to your enquiries, send newsletters if you’ve subscribed, and meet our legal and tax obligations. We don’t sell your personal information to anyone. We only share it where necessary to run the business — for example, with Australia Post to deliver your order, or with our payment providers to process payment.

Some of the services we use — such as Google Analytics and our payment providers — are operated by overseas companies, which means some of your information may be stored or processed outside Australia. We only use reputable providers who are bound by their own privacy obligations.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep your shopping cart working, remember preferences, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. This includes functional cookies (needed for the cart and checkout to work) and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, which help us see how the site is used. You can disable or delete cookies in your browser settings — though some parts of the site (like checkout) may not work properly without the functional ones.

Storage & security

Our website and order data are hosted with Hostinger. No website can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information — keeping what we collect to a minimum, using a reputable host, and securing the site with encryption (HTTPS).

Accessing or removing your information
